DDC Srinagar reviews Urs Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom arrangements | KNO

District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah Monday convened a meeting to review the arrangements for the forthcoming Urs of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arifeen Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom. The Urs is to be observed fromNovember 1 to November 17. The meeting was informed that the main function to the Urs will be held at the Sufi mystic’s shrine at Srinagar. The DDC was briefed about plans formulated by respective departments to ensure smooth observance of the Urs. During the meeting, PDD authorities were instructed to ensure curtailment-free power supply to the shrine and the area surrounding it. The transport department was directed to ensure adequate transport facilities are provided to devotees visiting the shrine during the Urs. The Health Department was instructed to set up a medical aid camp - with free medical aid twice a week. The DDC further directed the Police and Traffic departments to ensure proper security and effective traffic regulation measures on routes to the shrine and instructed the SMC and PDD officials to ensure all defunct street lights around the shrine are repaired on priority. Senior officers from Police, Traffic, RTO, Fire & Emergency, PDD, PHE, Health, SRTC, SMC besides members of the Wakf Board and Sajada Nisheen of the shrine were present in the meeting.
